Acquiring a stone

There is no basket on this site, and no checkout.

Stones of this kind are not bought with a click; they are bought after a conversation. Here is the whole process, in the order it happens, with nothing held back for the phone call.

    Enquire

    Write, with the stone’s reference carried in. A reply comes within 24 hours, Monday to Saturday. It commits you to nothing.

  2. 02

    View

    At the atelier, at your Colombo hotel or bank, or by live video: the stone in daylight, in tweezers, beside its report and the scale, in one continuous shot. We never ask anyone to decide from photographs alone.

  3. 03

    Certify

    For important stones you nominate the laboratory — GIA, GRS or Lotus. We submit before you pay, and the new report number is verifiable online before any money moves. You are not asked to trust our paperwork. You are asked to check it.

  4. 04

    Reserve and pay

    Bank transfer to Artha Gems of Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd only; the account name always matches. For first transactions, escrow or inspect-at-vault-then-release, arranged per transaction. A deposit can hold a stone while certification runs.

  5. 05

    Export and delivery

    NGJA inspection, the parcel wax-sealed, the licence number on the invoice. Specialist gem couriers, insured to signature, arranged per transaction. Visiting buyers may hand-carry with the receipts we prepare. Import duties and taxes in your country are yours: loose gemstones enter the US duty-free; EU buyers should expect import VAT at their national rate.

  6. 06

    Inspect

    Seven days from delivery to be sure. Returned unmounted, untampered, with seals and documentation intact, we refund in full. No restocking fee, no argument. You pay the return shipping. That is the whole of the fine print.

Never

We never accept cryptocurrency, Western Union, or payment to any personal account. If anyone asks you for these in our name, it is not us — call the number on this site.

The first price is the considered one. Prices are in US dollars and shown per carat as well as in total, because that is how the trade reads them.
